THE DESIGNER
As a child, REDSTAR ink owner and designer, Marcie Hicks, knew she would grow up to be an artist. Her love of making handmade books and cards evolved into attending youth art classes and eventually studying Fibers at Arizona State University. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Marcie relocated to San Diego, California where she began her career as a graphic designer.
With an obsession for personal organization and a taste for simple design, Marcie often found herself designing her own planners, notebooks and other paper goods. While digital tools and applications have their benefits, there is something satisfying about checking items off a list or opening a piece of mail from a friend. This realization led Marcie to create an eco-friendly product line and REDSTAR ink was born in 2009.
When Marcie isn’t busy in her studio, she I can be found cheering for her son on the soccer field, occasionally weaving or doing macrame and enjoying a Southern California lifestyle with her husband Walker, son Bryton and two dogs, Kitty and Kozmo.
